Earlier this week
I announced that Day One subscribers who create online content should submit one of their posts that they believe more people should read.
I promised to read each submission and share the link in today’s episode so that more people can do the same.
I received several submissions and after reading them all, I am glad to say that we have a lot of amazing writers reading this newsletter.
I was shocked by how good most of the pieces were and one helped me with a major issue that I have been going through over the past few weeks.
That article made me extremely glad that I did this.
I also discovered amazing writers whose content I would be following closely moving forward.
Online writing is a huge blessing, it is a great way to discover amazing people and I feel very privileged to have read the submissions from you guys.
For each article, I shared the author’s name, content title, my view of their content, and why you should read it.
I also copied and highlighted portions of the article that resonated deeply with me.
All articles are ranked based on who submitted first.
Also, you must not read all of the articles.
The best approach will be to first read my thoughts on all the content shared and why I think it is important, then based on your interest you can prioritize the one that resonates with you.
This way you can benefit from this exercise.
You already know how hard it is to return to content you bookmarked.
Please make sure you subscribe to the content of writers you find interesting, that way you can always receive their future episodes from them.
This exercise is a way to help broaden your worldview and I assure you that you will learn a lot of things that would open new mental and physical pathways for you.
Alawode Olamilekan
Africa and Autonomous Vehicles
In his article, Lekan talks about autonomous(self-driving) cars.
He starts by talking about the technological advancements that make them possible and then dives into the potential hiccups that Africa faces when it comes to adopting self-driving cars.
He talked about African countries that stand a chance of being a conducive environment for self-driving cars and the ones that would stifle its adoption due to economic and environmental reasons.
I have watched lots of videos about autonomous cars but this article raised some brilliant points I had never thought about.
Navigating through millions of vehicles and people requires a great deal of intuition rather than predetermined patterns of driving.
Human drivers can convey a whole lot of messages with mere eye contact. In terms of this, autonomous drivers can't be compared to human drivers.
Now, Imagine a traffic scenario where a Danfo driver in Lagos is signaling a lane change with his hand!
The auto-driver, probably confused, keeps stalling, calculating each step meticulously before proceeding. And you can't help but sit in the car, probably frustrated!
This article is a must-read for any car lover and innovation enthusiast.

The Standard Oil and John D Rockefeller Saga Pt 2 - The Fall of Standard Oil
John D Rockefeller was one of the richest men who ever lived.
In the latter part of his life, his company Standard Oil was broken down into 34 smaller companies ( Chevron, ExxonMobil, etc) that are still very active and valuable
This article by Micheal takes a deep dive into the events that led to the breaking of Standard Oil and the role the government, competitors, and an underrated woman played in it.
However, on May 15, 1911, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the decision of the lower courts, ruling that Standard Oil was a monopoly that illegally restrained trade.
Standard Oil was to be dissolve into 34 separate companies within six months.
As the news got out, Standard Oil stocks began crashing at a rapid pace. All hell was about to break loose for stockholders, especially Rockefeller, who owned 25% of all Standard Oil stocks
When these companies became publicly traded on the stock exchange, everyone for the first time saw the true picture of Rockefeller's creation, including the several assets they owned: Vaseline, forests for making barrels, railroad cars, pipelines, etc.
With the new sight before investors, they hurriedly invested in the child businesses of Standard Oil, sending their stock prices through the roof.
This article is a must-read for anyone interested in history, business, and politics.

How Quantum Doctors Cure What Others Can’t (Havard Doctors Are Learning This Now)
When I started reading this article, it looked very scientific, but that was just the writer laying the foundation for what is to come.
Within a few paragraphs, it dove into the role of our creative ability as individuals and how it relates to medicine and sickness.
I have seen people get cured of incurable diseases and scale through hurdles in life that seemed impossible.
I have always understood the ones that happened via miracles but not all of those cases were miracles.
Some happened because the benefactors leveraged the power of their minds, and a lot of articles have been written about that,
But this article shared a scientific approach to it and opened up new lines of knowledge for me.
He featured a lot of medical personnel in this article but my favorite was Dr Chatterjee, Popularly known as the doctor who makes diseases disappear.
Your genes contain the blueprint for how you can potentially turn out……, but you can influence what your cells look like, with your thoughts, your feelings, and the thoughts and feelings of others.
This article is a must-read for anyone interested in the Medical field, Innovation, and Education.

Solving the problem of Bitcoin and Ethereum: Zero-knowledge protocol.

But these blockchain also have their shortcomings.
In this article, Emmanuel takes a deep dive into Zero-Knowledge Protocols and how it is helping the Blockchain amazingly combine transparency and privacy.

Sedo Elijah
Mountain Kuluhala
In this article, Sedo uses vivid imagery to illustrate what it feels like to be on the wrong track.
He advocates for adaptation instead of doing the same thing and expecting different results.
In this barren wilderness, you’ve mastered all the signs, the cat calls, the jungle vines, the sounds of the crickets, and the movement of the sun but still it seems like your effort is wasted. All of it.
Your journey must be a joke to the people watching you. Here you are in the middle of a desert, without a purpose or direction.
A 40-year-old man with no life or career. A 25-year-old without a steady means of income.
The question I always ask myself in the middle of a tough challenge is this:
Am I sure this is the right mountain, for me? Especially after trying over and over again.
This article is a must-read for those building something they love and those who want to learn how to adapt well to challenges.

Don't Waste Another Minute: Learn When to Quit
Adaptation is great, but Abimbola makes a case for certain situations where quitting is the best option.
Some things are tying you down not because you have logical reasons for holding on, but because you have invested so much time and energy and don’t want to let go.
Sentiment is another form of fear, there are times when you just have to cut ties and start afresh.
"I've spent 5 years building this business, can't quit now."
"But I've dumped $100,000 into this startup!"
"7 years with this partner, I can't break up."
Sure, it's natural to want to justify that time, money, and effort already spent.
But those are silly reasons for deciding your next moves.
You're choosing based on what's gone, not an honest look at what's ahead.
This article is a must-read for anyone who knows that they are stuck in the wrong thing and are seeking for courage to quit.

On The Process and Waiting
One of the earliest quotes on waiting that I have come to love goes like this. “The journey is greater than the destination”
At the back of our minds, we understand that there is no overnight success but that does not stop our hearts from yearning for it.
In this Sunshine breaks down her ideas on process and the important things that you need to do while you are waiting.
Think of the process as a journey. You have to take a deliberate step to start the journey.
In between the start of that journey and the destination is a waiting period. However, we don’t stop moving cause we’re waiting to get to a desired destination, we keep going and keep trusting the process while we’re at it.
We refuel the vehicle when the need arises, take breaks, and rest but we don’t stop cause there’s a destination, a goal ahead.
This article is a must-read for anyone whose confidence in what they are building is waning.

Kings Shall Come To Your Rising
Hilda Baci’s Guinness World Record Attempt lit Nigeria on fire.
We watched for hours as one woman defied all the odds to do the impossible.
Her attempt also inspired a lot of Nigerians to go out there and achieve way more than they can ever imagine with the latest being Tunde Onakaya who some days back set the record for the longest hour spent playing Chess.
In this Article, Chimfoun dives into the backstory of Hilda and shares the people, setbacks, and stepping stones that got Hilda to where she is today.
After applying to break the record in 2018, her application was rejected. Guinness suggested that she wait for a couple of years before applying again as the record was just recently broken at that time.
This didn’t stop Hilda. With her eyes fixed on the vision, she focused on other things in preparation for it.
she started to dabble in acting, presenting cooking TV shows and a talent show - MTN Yellow Star 2020. She also became serious about her cooking career.
She launched her restaurant, My Food by Hilda, in 2021.
Around that time, she was selected to represent Nigeria at the Jollof Face-Off competition which she won and walked away with $5000.
A must-read for anyone who wants to attract the Kings of their Industry and Nation.

The Unique Complexities of First Impressions and Mind Reading
First impressions matter,
But they are not the only impression that matters.
Several articles have been written about how we or something we create is doomed if people don’t like it at first glance.
But humans are humans and they can be influenced.
This article by Labake shows how to persevere when it seems like no one cares and shares the stories of people who put a dent in the world by tirelessly magnifying the things they created or believe in.
One time, during a blind sip test between Pepsi and Coke in the 1980s, the results showed the majority of tasters preferred Pepsi to Coke.
Then, Coke decided to tinker with its formula to bring a new product called New Coke. It was a disaster.
Here is the issue with first impressions again.
The problem with the sip test is that tasters don’t drink the entire can.
They take a sip and they make their choice.
Therefore, a sweeter product can win a sip test and it doesn’t make it a better product.
This article is a must-read for everyone.
