How To Build And Profit From A Community
Attract Customers/Clients Before Creating a Product/Service.
Hello friends, and welcome to Day One.
I will be sharing a lot of profitable resources this year.
Ensure you don’t miss any by subscribing to this newsletter.
It takes just a click.
If you are tired of being just a consumer online.
And want to carve out profitable real estate for yourself on the Internet.
Then you would find today’s post helpful.
The strategies that I will be sharing can work for you.
Irrespective of what your interests are.
It is no news that we are all addicted to social media on varying levels.
But you can turn the time you previously wasted there into something valuable.
When it comes to building online communities.
I have discovered that most people are not aware of the numerous possibilities.
No niche is too small.
I started an experiment on my WhatsApp status some months back.
Where I share amazing Ads daily.
Over time, people have come to anticipate those Ads.
And after some weeks, people started forwarding great Ads they saw online to me.
That is what simply building a community is.
Being known for something.
People interested in that thing will follow and engage with your content.
They will also share helpful resources and opportunities with you.
Some untapped community opportunities can be found in football, movies, and fashion niches.
There is a huge opportunity to talk about the English Premier League and even the Champions League.
After reading this article,
You can share some of your interests in the comments below and I would give you some ideas of how you can build a community around it.
Remember the end goal of building this community is to create products/services for them.
I will define the community-driven model and then jump right into the steps.
What is a Community-Driven Model?
The community-driven model revolves around the fact that people are in a better position to tell you what they need.
As opposed to you creating what you think they need.
You stand a better chance of creating something remarkable,
If you let people partner with you in the content creation activities.
This is also the most efficient way of creating products.
But before the product creation stage,
They need to partner with you in the content creation stage.
Every episode I have written in this newsletter came from the questions my community members ask.
With that said,
Let’s examine the different things you need to create a community-driven brand.
Pick A Platform
The worst mistake that you can make is trying to launch your community on multiple platforms at once.
You will spread yourself too thin and won’t last long.
Here are platforms that you can choose depending on the nature of the content that you are putting out.
I put the most preferred platform in each category first,
But know that the ranking was based on platforms that can help you grow communities the fastest.
Text-Based Content: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIN, WhatsApp
Video-Based Content: TikTok, Instagram,Youtube
I didn’t add audio-based platforms or newsletter platforms because those are secondary channels.
You can only achieve fast growth there if you are funneling people from your social media platforms to consume your content there.
This Newsletter is growing fast because I have an engaged WhatsApp Community.
Determine Your Approach
You have to decide the kind of content that you want to start with.
When I started building a brand on WhatsApp.
I did WhatsApp Status Webinars on topics that revolved around personal growth every two weeks.
I started by reaching out to existing contacts via a broadcast to share my WhatsApp link with their friends/family
Anyone interested in my content always DMed me to save their contact.
The more webinars that I did, the more my contact list grew.
I started with less than 150 WhatsApp contacts but have over 7700 contacts currently.
I have done organic sales of over 13 Million Naira from that community alone for digital products.
The jobs and contracts that I have gotten are worth even more.
I didn’t get there overnight,
I started with a simple idea and made adjustments based on the feedback from my community.
You can do this for any niche.
There is a guy on Instagram who analyzes Rap music that was popular between 1970 and 1980.
That’s all he does, but he has built a big community and Record Labels pays him thousands of dollars in consultation fees.
You need to tap into these possibilities:
Don’t just call yourself a Foodie, build a community by talking about food.
Don’t just be a Sports Fan, analyze football, or even share clips from special moments.
Don’t just be a Movie Lover, give your opinion on movies and even review them.
There are YouTube channels with Millions Of Subscribers that talk only about Marvel/DC movies.
Do Unto Others
Don’t just create content and cross your legs.
Go out and engage with the content of others.
Anything that you want people to do for you, do it for others first.
When starting, create less content and focus more of your time commenting on the content of people in your niche who have bigger channels.
Follow the top 20-30 pages/profiles of people creating quality content related to your industry.
Always engage with their posts.
Also, 80% of your comments on each post should be a reply to the comments of others.
Anyone commenting on the post of someone with a similar niche as you would most likely find your content interesting.
Some will visit your profile because of your comments and follow you.
I got interviewed by someone from Germany some weeks back because of a LinkedIN comment I made.
I also built my first blog using this approach and made my first million from it.
I call it “ Smart Commenting”.
Teach As You Learn
No one knows it all.
To create for people, you would have to learn lots of things.
But you need to understand something.
The content creation process doesn’t start when you know everything
It starts once you start learning.
The key to winning people’s trust is hinged on them seeing you as an authority.
Authority is built by sharing valuable content.
Trust is built by consistently doing this.
I knew a few things about what makes an Ad great when I started sharing them on my WhatsApp status.
But by doing it every day, I started attracting the attention of people who liked great Ads.
Learn a little about that thing and share what you have learned.
At that point, you are just a reporter.
But the more you report and expose yourself to that industry.
The more insights that you will gather.
And with time, you will become a mentor.
You need to understand that you are both a student and a teacher.
And it is for life.
You would keep learning and teaching for the rest of your life.
Mastery is not a point but a Spectrum.
As long as you keep learning, you get better and better.
If you want to attain mastery before you start creating content,
The world will never hear from you.
Listen For Problems
The more you create content
The more questions that people ask you.
Document every question that people ask you.
The first stage is using it as content inspiration.
If you read last week's episode and check the comment section.
You will see why I am writing about creating and profiting from a community today.
When a particular question keeps coming up over and over again.
It means that a large number of your community members need help with that thing.
That is a time to launch a product or service around that thing.
One of the first courses that I sold was on productivity and the course outline was the questions that I documented around that topic.
So start, and with time, you will find ways to monetize that community.
Digital courses are just one way.
You can tell me what kind of community you are building in the comments.
And I will suggest things you can try out.

Thank you so much, I love food and I love cooking, i started my food business in school a year ago, I’ve learnt a lot from my constant cooking and a lot of new recipes that I have created on my own and I really want to create content and enlighten people about healthy food and a lot more but i really don’t know how to start or should I say procrastination sometimes is my problem, how do I go about this
Thank you so much for this sir. I’m a Pharmacist and I’m currently building my brand centered around “Medication, medicine use and drugs” Hoping to educate as much as possible. Thank you so much. At the moment I’m having concerns about my post engagement so far and the solution as you’ve explained is that I’d definitely have to do more with commenting on other creators post. Thank you once again for this
