I’d love to share what I think my obstacle is and also would love a response from you concerning that.
Now here is it. I would say I am a bit of a fast learner and when I actually set my mind on a skill, from the beginning I always see good progress, but the problem is, after gaining a bit of mastery on the set skill, i stop practice and quickly I become stagnant and don’t get good results, not like I don’t really remember all I have learnt before, but I stop practicing and studying and so I see myself lagging behind. If I go back to practice, I always find same thing repeat itself. I would like some words from you on this Chief.
Great read, I finally made out time to go over most of you past letters and I must say I feel blessed doing it on a day I get a chance to comment thanks to substack. Every letter from each day comes with a new lesson, I’m learning the ropes and hopefully one day, I will start mine.
You don’t know how surprise I am learning that it’s just your first year in design, lol!! I see you write about design with so much passion and knowledge and I could have sworn you’re at least 3years deep. Your time when weighed with your mastery is really a proof that “It isn’t 10,000 hours that creates Outliers, it is 10,000 iterations”.
By the way, what’s the new journey about? This might be the motivation I need, please tell us.
I have done lots of reading and study about design even before I started doing the practical aspect. That's why I have such a deep understanding of it.
As for my new journey I am taking a dive into Affiliate Marketing as I aim to build a new income stream from it
Thank you. Your Ui/Ux design story just challenges me to start that new skill immediately. Your newsletters have always been timely. God bless you richly
The major one is procrastination. I know what am supposed to do and well aware that giving it time will produce results. However, I often go one week full of vigour and the next down
When I have an idea, most times I have a well laid plan on how to execute it. I can actually start, say first 3-4 days after which it gets all exhausting and I start to slack. And then I thought maybe having the right people around me could help me stay accountable and on track. So far it hasn't worked out well, maybe I don't have the right friends cause it seems everybody is just looking out for themselves.
You have to surround yourself with people who will motivate you. I for One take the kind of content I expose myself to very seriously because it shapes my perception
I think my major obstacle is taking the final action towards attaining my goal. I can make a plan, make some actions towards that plan but procrastinate the main action over and over again telling myself I don't have the right motivation yet.
One thing that you should realise is that things rarely goes as expected, you just have to be willing to stick to it. Things are hard before they get easy
Thank you so much for your good read. The newsletter from two day's ago were totally practical. I took it up as a challenge to do as you stated; spend 4 hours developing your skill and shut out anything that stands as distraction. Doing so has made me so fulfilled.
I'm someone whose motivation is usually from a more direct external end, like what you did. I understand that it wouldn't always be that way, so what would you suggest? because some how it's like my major wiring to want to do things together with someone or from an instruction from someone I pay close attention to.
Also, please consider increasing the days of releasing your newsletter. I've become really attached to them, learnt alot and they've helped me with forming the habit of reading everyday.
The major challenge I face is giving up when things get too difficult then it makes me second guess my "why" in the first place. Just then everything takes a halt.

The issue is that you aren't figuring out how to make money from the skills. Learning a skill is one thing, but earning from it is another.
You would need to be able to drive sales for the skills. I would talk broadly on this in an upcoming class
Okay Thanks

You need to work on your associations and also put things before you that would keep you motivated

The reason is because you judge so much. Things won't be perfect from the start, you just have to keep taking action and Improve as you go on.
The major challenge I have is giving up when things don't go as expected.

Hmmm. Battling with a massive mental block, not very good at venturing into new grounds, but events; demand that I make a"Shift"
It's been draining

I think my Obstacle is arranging my Goal and achieving them systematically

Things would be hard before it gets easy, you have to be willing to put in the work. If you want to move ahead
